#Congratulations to #BedfordCountySchools LEAPs Project Director Tiffany Swain, who was recognized as a 2025–26 “Data Darling” at the Extended Learning Project Director Institute in Chattanooga!
Tiffany earned this recognition for achieving 100% completion of required LEAPs data throughout the 2025–26 school year — a distinction earned by just 55% of LEAPs Project Directors statewide.
This accomplishment was made possible by our outstanding LEAPs Site Directors, who consistently provided timely attendance data throughout the year:
⭐ Breanne Pilkington & Melissa Martin — #EastSideElementarySchool LEAPs
⭐ Rhonda Leverette — #CommunityHighSchool LEAPs
⭐ Heather Wilson Clem & Hannah Warren — #EakinElementarySchool LEAPs
⭐ Caitlin Pope — #LearningWayElementarySchool LEAPs
We are proud of this team and their commitment to providing quality extended learning opportunities for Bedford County #students! ❤️💙
LEAPs (Lottery for Education in Afterschool Programs) is a grant-funded program that provides students with engaging after-school learning opportunities that support academic growth, enrichment and personal development. The program gives students a safe, supportive place to learn and grow beyond the regular school day.
LEAPs begins September 8! Families interested in the program should contact the LEAPs Site Director at their child’s school for more information.

🚗 CAR TAGS
Car tags went home with our car riders this week! For the remainder of this week, we will continue calling car rider numbers and student names.
Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, after Horse Show Break, all parents/guardians must have a 2026–2027 car tag to pick up their student.
❗ No car tag? You will need to go to the front office, show your ID, and sign your student out.
If you need a car tag and did not receive one, please let your child's teacher know.
📱 BEDFORD COUNTY APP
The county is still working to get all classrooms set up in the Bedford County App.
Until classrooms are available, if you need to communicate with your child's teacher, please:
• 📧 Email the teacher
• 💻 Send a message through Synergy
• 📝 Send a note with your student
📚 Please check your child's backpack every afternoon so you don't miss important information coming home from school!

Recently, an ESL Parent Conference was held at #CommunityElementarySchool, bringing families together to learn more about their children’s ELPA21 scores and discover ways to support continued English language growth.🌟
Families received helpful resources to take home, including practice sentences, learning materials and information about upcoming opportunities for parents and #students. 📖📝
Most importantly, the event highlighted the power of family involvement. We are grateful to the ESL parents who took the time to attend, learn, ask questions and play an active role in their children’s education. Their support makes a meaningful difference! 💙
A special #ThankYou goes to Dunkin’ Donuts for generously providing coffee and donuts ☕🍩 and to Mrs. Kathy Reed, Elementary Instructional & ESL Supervisor, for joining the event and supporting our families.
